This is a great short video that explains the concept of tithing. I love it that she points out that our giving to church is, in a sense, paying for our share, covering services we benefit from, like having a youth program for our kids, a church to worship in, etc.
She then gives additional gifts to things like ELCA World Hunger, etc. We have been trying to grow in this practice in our own household. We are moving steadily towards tithing to the church, and then we make regular monthly gifts to Lutheran World Relief, LIRS, and NPR, to name a few.
