Wisconsin Pastor Answers Call to Serve Local Lutheran Congregation
(Fayetteville, AR) Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas began the New Year with a new face at the pulpit. After four years with an interim pastor, the congregation has called the Reverend Clint Schnekloth to serve as full-time minister of the ELCA congregation. Schnekloth began serving the congregation on January 2, 2011 and there will be an installation and communion service on January 16, 2011 at 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Schnekloth is a doctor of ministry candidate at Fuller Theological Seminary. His proposed thesis title is "After the Book: Faith Formation in Post-Print Culture." Specifically, he will propose that innovative adaptation of the ancient catechumenate, an immersive rite of Christian initiation that focuses on Scripture study, disciple-making, and baptismal living, together with the utilization of the "ambient intimacy" inherent in social media, can provide a theologically nuanced and fruitful model for Christian formation "after the book."

Additionally, Schnekloth is a regular contributor to The Lutheran, The Little Lutheran, Lutheran Forum, the Journal of Lutheran Ethics and Word & World. He also freelances for Augsburg Fortress publishing house. His most recent projects include seasonal essays for Sundays & Seasons, lessons for a forthcoming resource on pre-baptismal instruction, material in the Spark Bible, and a Book of Faith bible study forthcoming in 2011. Schnekloth is also an advocate for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service.
Schnekloth previously served as pastor of East Koshkonong Lutheran Church in WI, the oldest Norwegian Lutheran Church in the United States. Previous to that, he served as associate pastor at St. John's Lutheran in Oregon, WI; as a global missionary with the ELCA in Kosice, Slovakia; a youth director at Peace Lutheran Church of Plymouth, MN; and Camp Director of Camp Shalom in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Schnekloth loves pastoral ministry, especially the call to preach, lead worship, visit parishioners, and eat potluck food. He is growing in his understanding of faith as being a disciple of Jesus, and is especially interested in mission and outreach with youth and young adults, while simultaneously cherishing the fact that churches are one of the few multi-generational holdouts in our culture.
Schnekloth and his wife Amanda have two children ages 2 and 5 and are expecting their third child soon.
