Parenting

Our son was born on November 11th, and since that time blogging has taken, for obvious reasons, secondary place to such things as diaper changing, night time comforting, and general family bonding. We are so thankful to the Lord for this precious gift. Happy Thanksgiving, and blessings to all at the beginning of this Advent season.

    Clint,

Congratulations! May the good Lord grant that you are blessed with all necessities to be wise, loving, faithful and strong parents. And may you know joy in this holy vocation.

    In Christ,
    Evers

Congratulations, Clint! I was thinking it was about that time for your family.

  3. Brother Clint,

Congratulations and all best wishes for you and your entire family. I once remarked to a friend, when our daughter was about 3 years old, that parenting is a study in continuous grieving. He completely did not understand what I meant: Children continuously develop and as they do so, they leave behind some of what we loved in and about them. When they sit up alone, they become less dependent on us; when they walk, they take themselves out of our arms; when they reach 12 -- well. Now, of course that's all good stuff: who'd want children to do otherwise? But I think it realistic to acknowledge the changes and their effects on us.

On the other hand, I may just be a softy.

Enjoy as much time as you can with your son (sons are almost as good as daughters -- and, I've heard, easier to raise through adolescence). Remember that he is given you in trust from God.

Let us know as the baptism approaches. I have a gorgeous poem by Gabriella Mistral that I would love to send you on that occasion.

    Best wishes for sleep, too.

    Dwight

There is nothing in the world like losing sleep, smelly diapers, puke, and crying. It makes the heart melt and man what a gift they are. Congrats Clint and give Amanda a hello and congrats too.
