Should Lutheran Confessions change?

As I come into my 10th year of blogging here at Lutheran confessions, I'm increasingly aware that by calling it "Lutheran confessions," it is contributing to the ghettoization of our tradition. So I'm considering transitioning to a new blog, with a new title, that is open to a wider ecumenical conversation. Any readers have opinions on this?

I generally like your confessional posture. However, isn't it interesting that in your previous post you are looking for a specifically "Lutheran hermeneutic." That sounded a little narrow -- isn't it a bit late in the day to be seeking a hermeneutic that holds only for a small sliver of Christendom?

  2. Absolutely. I think you are right. I think I have been too focused on the word "Lutheran" in any phrase like "Lutheran hermeneutic" and partially that has been because I'm blogging from/for a blog I created called "Lutheran confessions." Form follows function, function follows form. I'm at war with myself. Thanks for the comment!

  3. being a war with yourself is very Lutheran.... that being said, it's also Pauline, and very ecumenical.

I do think Lutherans have great gifts to the larger church. I'll be watching for your ideas about how to get out of the "ghetto."
